The Welcome New Neighbor (WNN) program incorporates three of our General Mission Goals—educating residents to be good stewards of the lake, encouraging enjoyment of the lake, and building a sense of community. As new residents move into our service area--within a mile of Eagle Lake--a board member makes an initial contact to introduce ELIA and deliver a WNN reference manual. It is loaded with key information about the lake, our community, boating and water safety, shoreline best practices, and contact information for lake partner organizations. We consider good stewardship of our lake to be critical in our efforts to improve the lake and watershed. The initial meeting often generates interest in our organization, and because ELIA is entirely volunteer based, we do hope that our new neighbors will consider membership. Each year, all new neighbors are invited to a "meet and greet” social gathering, sponsored by ELIA.
